WOZTELL uses Meta’s official Embedded Signup — the most streamlined way to connect your FBM, register your phone number, and go live on WhatsApp Business API. This guide walks you through every step, including the latest WhatsApp Co-existence feature that lets you keep your existing WhatsApp Business App number and chat history.
1. Prerequisites — What You Need Before Starting
Before launching the Embedded Signup, confirm you have all three of the following in place:
- WOZTELL account: Register at the WOZTELL Registration Page. A free trial is available to get started immediately.
- A phone number: Either a new number not linked to any WhatsApp account, or your existing WhatsApp Business App number — both are supported. See the Co-existence note below.
- Meta Business Manager: A verified FBM owned by your personal Facebook account. Need help? See Part 1 of this guide.
Good news — WhatsApp Co-existence is now supported:
If you are currently using the WhatsApp Business App, you no longer need to give up your number or lose your chat history. WOZTELL supports Co-existence onboarding, which means you can register your existing WhatsApp Business App number for API access while continuing to use the app for 1-to-1 messaging. Chat history and contacts are kept in sync between both.
Using a brand new number?
The number must not be currently linked to any WhatsApp account (personal or Business App). If it is, you must delete that WhatsApp account first before registration. Note: for personal WhatsApp accounts, this action is irreversible and all chat history on that number will be permanently deleted. Co-existence is only available for WhatsApp Business App accounts, not personal WhatsApp.
2. The Embedded Signup Flow — Step by Step
Meta’s Embedded Signup is built directly into WOZTELL. You will not need to navigate multiple Meta developer portals — everything happens within a guided flow inside the platform.
Step 1 — Create your WOZTELL account
Go to the WOZTELL Registration Page and sign up. Once inside the platform, navigate to Channels → WhatsApp to begin the setup wizard.
Step 2 — Launch the Embedded Signup
Click ‘Connect WhatsApp’ inside WOZTELL. A Meta-hosted popup will appear. Log in with the personal Facebook account that owns your FBM — not a company account, not a shared login.
Step 3 — Select or create your Meta Business Manager
The flow will ask you to select an existing FBM or create a new one. If creating for the first time, follow the prompts to enter your business name and email. Grant WOZTELL the permissions it requests to manage your WhatsApp account on your behalf.
Step 4 — Create your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) and set your display name
Name your WhatsApp Business Account and choose your display name. The display name must match your business name, cannot contain the word ‘WhatsApp’, and must not be generic or personal. This name appears to customers in their chat interface.
Step 5 — Register and verify your phone number
Enter the phone number you are registering. Two scenarios:
- New number (no existing WhatsApp): Meta will send a 6-digit verification code via SMS or voice call. Enter the code to confirm.
- Existing WhatsApp Business App number (Co-existence): You will receive a verification message from the official Facebook Business Account inside your WhatsApp Business App. Tap Connect, then tap Confirm to approve the connection and optionally share your chat history. Then enter the verification code in the Embedded Signup flow to complete registration.
Step 6 — Your WhatsApp API is live in WOZTELL
You can now send and receive messages, set up your shared inbox, configure AI agents, build broadcast lists, and create automation flows — all within the WOZTELL platform.
3. WhatsApp Co-existence — What Changes After Onboarding
If you onboarded using your existing WhatsApp Business App number, here is what to expect after activation:
What continues to work on your WhatsApp Business App:
- 1-to-1 individual chats — messages are mirrored between the app and Cloud API
- Contacts with WhatsApp numbers — can be synchronised
- Voice and video calls
- Business tools (catalogue, orders, status, business profile)
What changes or is limited after Co-existence onboarding:
- Broadcast lists are disabled on the WhatsApp Business App — existing lists become read-only. Use WOZTELL for broadcast messaging instead.
- Group chats are not synchronised between the app and Cloud API
- Disappearing messages and view-once messages are disabled for 1-to-1 chats
- Fixed throughput of 20 messages per second applies to Co-existence accounts
Pricing note: Messages sent from the WhatsApp Business App remain free. Messages sent via the API are subject to standard Cloud API pricing. The 24-hour customer service window only applies to API messages — app messages do not affect your API conversation window.
4. After Activation — What Comes Next
Submit for business verification: Submit your FBM for Meta Business Verification to unlock Tier 2 (2,000 daily conversations) and higher messaging limits.
Apply for the blue badge: Once verified, apply for WhatsApp Official Business Account (OBA) — the blue badge — the blue badge that builds customer trust. Sanuker offers free blue badge application support.
Set up message templates: Create and submit pre-approved WhatsApp template messages for outbound broadcasts, notifications, and campaigns.
Configure your AI agent: Use WOZTELL to set up an AI-powered agent for 24/7 customer support, lead qualification, and automated follow-ups.
Messaging tier limits: New accounts start at Tier 1 (250 conversations/day). After FBM business verification: Tier 2 (2,000/day). Higher tiers unlock automatically as your account demonstrates consistent quality messaging. Co-existence accounts have a fixed throughput of 20 messages per second.
5. Troubleshooting Common Issues
Signup stuck or FBM not appearing?
Make sure you are logged into the correct personal Facebook account — the one that owns your FBM. Logging in with a different account will show a blank or incorrect FBM list.
Phone number rejected for a new number?
The number is likely still linked to an existing WhatsApp account. Delete the WhatsApp account on that number first (note: this is irreversible for personal WhatsApp), then wait a few minutes before retrying. If you are using an existing WhatsApp Business App number, use the Co-existence flow instead — you do not need to delete your account.
Display name rejected?
Most common reasons: the name contains ‘WhatsApp’, it is too generic, or it does not match the business name on your FBM. Update the name and resubmit.
Co-existence verification not arriving?
Ensure your WhatsApp Business App is updated to version 2.24.17 or higher. Check that the phone number entered matches your WhatsApp Business App number exactly.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sign up for WhatsApp Business API using WOZTELL?
Sign up at WOZTELL, go to Channels → WhatsApp, and click ‘Connect WhatsApp’ to launch Meta’s Embedded Signup. Log in with the personal Facebook account that owns your FBM, create your WhatsApp Business Account, and verify your phone number. Your WhatsApp API will be live immediately after verification.
What is WhatsApp Embedded Signup?
WhatsApp Embedded Signup is Meta’s official in-platform flow that allows businesses to connect their Meta Business Manager, create a WhatsApp Business Account, and register a phone number within a partner platform like WOZTELL — without navigating Meta’s developer portal separately.
Can I use my existing WhatsApp Business App number for WhatsApp Business API?
Yes. Thanks to WhatsApp Co-existence, you can register your existing WhatsApp Business App number for WhatsApp Business API without losing your chat history or contacts. You will continue to be able to use the WhatsApp Business App for 1-to-1 messaging while using the API for scaled messaging — and message history is kept in sync between both.
What is WhatsApp Co-existence?
WhatsApp Co-existence allows businesses to use the same phone number on both the WhatsApp Business App and the WhatsApp Business API (Cloud API) simultaneously. Chat history, contacts, and new messages are synchronised between both. This means businesses do not need to give up their existing WhatsApp Business App setup to access API capabilities.
How long does it take to activate WhatsApp Business API through WOZTELL?
The Embedded Signup can be completed in under 15 minutes if all prerequisites are ready. For Co-existence onboarding (existing WhatsApp Business App number), you will need to verify via the WhatsApp Business App itself. Your WhatsApp API will be active in WOZTELL immediately after verification.
How many WhatsApp messages can I send per day after signing up?
New accounts start at Tier 1 (250 conversations/day). After Meta Business Manager business verification, you unlock Tier 2 (2,000/day). Note: Co-existence accounts have a fixed throughput of 20 messages per second. Higher tiers unlock automatically as your account maintains consistent high-quality messaging.
What are the limitations of WhatsApp Co-existence?
Co-existence accounts have a fixed throughput of 20 messages per second. Broadcast lists are disabled on the WhatsApp Business App after onboarding. Group chats, disappearing messages, and view-once messages are not synchronised between the app and Cloud API. Messages sent via the WhatsApp Business App are free; messages sent via API are subject to Cloud API pricing.
Can I use WOZTELL to manage multiple WhatsApp numbers?
Yes. WOZTELL supports multiple WhatsApp Business Accounts and phone numbers under one platform, suitable for businesses with multiple branches, departments, or markets.
What can I do with WhatsApp Business API in WOZTELL after activation?
Set up a shared team inbox, configure AI agents for 24/7 service, send broadcasts to opted-in contacts, create message templates, and automate workflows by integrating WhatsApp with CRM, ERP, or e-commerce systems.
